Bet Key Wong, MSN, RN, CNOR is the founder of Central Massachusetts Health Literacy Project. Her interest in health literacy started when she was working in the pharmaceutical industry and she found that many industry’s patient education brochures were beautifully done but not useful to patients and their caregivers. Her journey for clear, simple, and effective health communication included joining Health Circles started by literacy advocates in the greater Boston area and volunteering as a literacy tutor for Chinese immigrants in Boston's Chinatown. Currently, she works as an operating room nurse at Lahey Hospital and Medical Center in Burlington, MA. Her health literacy work focuses on the elderly and low-income population.
